Asset types
Each asset in the catalogue is characterised by a type, which specifies its nature. The type allows assets to be grouped by family and guides the AI during generations in projects.
Default available types
The platform provides the following five main types by default:
- Hardware — physical equipment (servers, workstations, network equipment, etc.)
- Software — applications and software components
- Network — networks and communication infrastructure
- Data — data and business reference data
- Human — human resources and roles
- Premises — real estate or a physical location
Types customised by the organisation
Asset types are configurable by the organisation's administrators. Each organisation can therefore enrich the default list with its own categories, to reflect the structure of its information system.
Type management is done from the organisation's settings. To learn more, see the Settings section.
Harmonise the types at the organisation level before launching your first projects. This makes it easier to compare analyses from one project to another and to leverage the catalogue consistently.
Choose a type at creation
When adding or modifying an asset from the Manage assets page, the Type field is offered as a dropdown list. You will find both the default types and the custom types configured by your organisation.
